My Philosophy

Always ask why

On our side, asking why can help to understand the problem space and its context. It can help to be both a good business partner, as well as understanding the user’s needs.

On a user side of things, a lot of actions or decisions they make might seem trivial. But asking “why” once or twice can really uncover a hidden iceberg of opportunities. This can help uncover a goldmine of user insights, pain points, and thought patterns which might not have been on the initial radar of a project scope.

Society shapes technology and vice-versa

We build technology based on our needs, but our needs are ever changing. It’s the role of UX researchers to determine how to shape technology to fit those needs.

It’s important to remember however, how the technology plays a role in changing our needs as well. Food delivery apps might might reduce the amount a user goes out to get groceries, or more negatively, to go out in general. Researchers my recognize and consider these consequences when making solutions to unknowingly avoid making more problems.
